Our direct access course in essex is taught by an IAM and DSA qualified instructor and is split into two — a course for module one and a course for module two — teaching you everything you need to know at a pace suitable for you.

Splitting our direct access courses makes the direct access scheme more accessible and cheaper for you, since you don't have to set 4 or 5 days aside for an intensive course and can choose to stagger the courses to help with payment. Oh, please note that you need to have done your CBT course and theory test before starting the DAS course. Sorry about that... it's not us that makes the rules!

About the DAS Essex (Direct Access in Essex)

The DAS course is a complete crash course in motorbikes, from start to finish, for over 21s. The test is split into two parts: the 'playground' and the 'practical', which we take care of booking for you.

On the DAS, first we teach you for the "playground" test, which aims to assess your control of a motorbike. It's all a bunch of slaloms, controlled braking and swerve tests, so it's like being on a road full with old drivers. It's definitely good training, and realistic. Then we teach you to pass the road test, which is a lot like a car test: you ride in front of an examiner who assesses how well you're doing, and with any luck your nerves hold up and you pass. After passing the actual direct access test, you're free to ride any bike regardless of power!*

Our new split pricing means our Essex Direct Access course is more affordable for everyone. You can now pay for and take the DAS course in two parts:

  • Take the 2-day Module 1 DAS Course section for only £200. If you pass you can move on to the Module 2 section.
  • Take the 2-day Module 2 DAS Course section for only £275

Unlike our competitors, this means that you can choose to stagger your DAS course. Plus, although we give you the training you need to pass the tests, if you happen to fail your Module 1 you haven't got any commitment to Module 2.

  • Module 1 DAS course: £200
  • Module 2 DAS course: £275
    • The above courses include test fees
  • Hourly: £35 (including bike hire)
  • Hourly: £25 (without bike hire)

All DAS Essex courses include test fees, bike hire, petrol and the use of a helmet and gloves.

We'll teach you everything you need to know about riding a bike at a pace suitable for you, and we don't just teach technique — safety and mindset are as important. We'll also book your tests for you and give you an hour's extra training before your test to warm you up, and sit waiting with our fingers crossed for you to pass!

We're fully insured (for our own bikes) so you're not liable for anything - you don't have to worry about excess either. Don't let it worry you though, chances are you'll be fine!
